Quirkinesses :)

O.k. I’ve been tagged and I have to tell 6 Quirky things about me. Since I've been called 'weird' all my life this one shouldn't be to hard for me.

Anyway, I'm not entirely sure how the tagging thing goes but I guess at the end I have to list some people who get tagged and then you are supposed to blog the same topic. Get it? Got it? Good.

1. I make up my own phrases like 'That's as easy as burning toast.' It works for me and it makes people chuckle so I'm okay with it.

2. I am completely in love with Reese's Pieces and can down a big bag of them by myself if I'm not careful.

3. I can pop nearly every joint in my body. Let me list... my neck, my ears (that's not a joint, but I can), my wrists, my fingers, my knees, my upper back, my lower back, my hips, my toes, my ankles, and my left shoulder oh and there's this little thing I can do with the innards of my neck that makes it pop.

4. I only like my cheeseburgers plain. That means nothing but the bun, the burger and the cheese.

5. I'm a germ-a-phobe. My absolute least favorite chore is the toilet. If I lose something down a drain, or if a drain is clogged I will wait for my husband to get home to dig it out. I've left toys in the toilet all day (and just used the other toilet) waiting for him to get home. I'm seriously borderline OCD about this one guys.

6. I love to purge my possessions. I love going through my closets and throwing out things I haven't worn in a while, or going through drawers and tossing stuff. It gives me an insane sense of instant gratification. I think my mother in law thinks I'm wasteful. ;)

Okay, lets see I will tag... Jen, John & Chelsea, Jamie, and Lisa. Hahaha!

Remember you tried to pawn your "Goth" shirt on me when you were moving? It's nice to share.

I was thinking about that shirt the other day. My little sister was so mad at me cause she didn't get it. I really liked that shirt up until that comment.

(I had a girl say, "I love that shirt it is so goth!" for all of you who don't know the story)

I wonder where it went? Why didn't you take it? It was cute! ;)

ben likes to make up his own phrases too. i think this one is my absolute favorite. at work he has to train a lot of people because there is a high turn over rate and he started using this to describe one of them. "he couldn't find his butt with both hands and a map."

i also must comment on the innards of the neck thing too. that's so wierd. i wish i could make my neck pop sometimes. i know several people that can pop their own neck back into place when it's out.

1. Actually, I think you're supposed to go comment on their blogs telling them they've been tagged; which leads to the delicate question ...

2. Am I the Jen you referred to? I have trained myself not to respond to anyone calling "Jen" since there are so many of us. If I am, let me know.

3. I am the same way about toilets. When I worked as a maid I developed a technique that allowed me to clean a toilet without ever actually having to lay a bare inch of skin on one. I still use it, because I find them so disgusting. It is either genetic, or Mom's fault. ;)

I'm the same way about toilets. Except I just never clean them, which is really bad when you're a bachelor. haha just kidding, I clean them twice a year.

Altered Shoe Art: Ring Holder Shoe Tutorial

This was my week two craft for So You Think You're Crafty. I placed third that week for this one. I thought you might enjoy finding out how I made it.

I tried about a million different decorations before settling on one that didn't drown out my rings. I wanted them to the focal point. This is also why I went with black fabric and not something more vivid.

Don't be intimidated by the lack of 101 I'm giving you. It really is a straight forward sort of project. If you know how to use a glue gun without burning yourself you can do this. Just be sure to dust off your imaginative brain space first. :)

The one important thing you might be wondering is how I got the pink fabric to stick to the shoe. I really just Mod Podged it on.

There are several different ways to make ring tubes that you can find online. One I saw used that colored foam paper stuff that you find in the kids craft section. I thought that might have been easier, but I had scraps of batting lying around so I …

How-To Pretend You Work For Anthropologie

The problem with Anthropologie is that they cost way too much money. WAY TOO MUCH! I mean, come on--these book boxes:

Cost $68-$188!

Do you have that kind of money?

I don't, but you know what I do have? I have a library with a cart full of free books that no one really cares about! So guess what I did... I made my own (and then I gave them away because I really don't have anywhere to put them).

Here's how.

I Am A Phoenix

This is a drawing I did right after my divorce, when I was trying to discover my life's course and who I was as a person. Divorce is this horrendously nasty thing that leaves a person with little to nothing of who they were before (at least that's how it was for me). My family was gone, at one point I had counted up blood/legal relatives that had stopped talking to me and it was nearly 60. Things were bad, but one of the recurring comments I heard from other divorcee's was 'Get bitter, or get better.' So I aimed for better. I came up with my own personal code of conduct (Quiet Dignity) and my own personal motto.

The motto the drawing is based off of is:
"I am a Phoenix. I was born for the fire and I will rise from the ashes."
But, that's not all. Each aspect of the drawing has meaning. I researched these... so I hope I got them right. lol
I chose to make my image reminiscent of a mandala with the most significant parts at the very center. The shape i…
