Edgar Allen Poe-Win?

My 7 year old girl is at it again... Her imagination is enough to give one pause. Here's what she handed me yesterday with a proud smile of accomplishment and a "Mom, I wrote a poem, see."

Haunted
A poem by Vicbowin

I have no friends
Because my mom was killed by a gangster
My dad ran away for a trip
But never returned
My friends were haunted
My dog got buried
My hamster died
The only friend I have is my parrot.

What am I going to do with her?

I love it! Tell her to keep writing...she's bound to win the Edgar Allan Poe Award in ten years!
all we need to know now is what happens to the parrot? And who killed the hamster?

You could also publish it as a child's picture book where the reader draws the pictures...why hasn't any publisher thought of that yet? You could make her pay for her own shoes at eight!

Does she watch the news? lol Wow, that is quite the imagination! There was this kid I used to babysit who had an imaginary parrot with a foul mouth. He was six at the time. Kids are a trip :)

ROTFLOL

That's even funnier the second time! She is destined to be a writer, I fear. :)

Sean Gilmore thinks ur daughter should learn about Hi coo's or however you spell it. When I was a small young toddler, I wrote one about Christmas and we hang it on the tree every year.

"It is Christmas Time
Rudolph has a big red nose
I love Christmas time"

I do need to encourage her writing, but she shocks me so much with it that I don't know if I can handle more.

Gangsters? that just kills me, I don't even know where she came up with that word... we don't have any TV channels so it's got to be from school.

She's a real riot.
