The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I love Thanksgiving. It's my favorite holiday.

There's no stress over what presents to buy or how much money you're going to spend. There isn't any massive amount of decorations to put up and a tree to keep an eye on for the next month. There's no being pummeled by Santa Clause and the kids letters that will never be fulfilled.

It's just simple goodness.

A day when every body you care about, and sometimes mere acquaintances, get together to enjoy good food and great company.

I enjoy spending the entire morning cooking and prepping the house. Then spending the afternoon eating and luxuriating.

The kids all seem to know there's something special in the air and are on their best behavior. They play by themselves and wait for their favorite Thanksgiving food to be set on the table.

I love nibbling on potatoes as I cut, cook and hand mash them (which is the only way to do it). I love sneaking pie-crust dough from the bowl and running away before my hand gets smacked. I love the smell of the Turkey cooking to it's golden brown deliciousness.

Every moment of the day is glorious to me and not a second is taken for granted.

Today, the day after, everyone will be heading over to the big stores to get a head start on the bank depleting shopping. I won't because I'll be taking this time to eat a slice of pie for breakfast before grabbing a cozy blanket and a good book and indulging in the stillness of a world still waking up from it's Turkey induced coma.

Happy for you that you had a great Thanksgiving! And smart of you to not do shopping today. I slept through it!

Thanksgiving is the best excuse for gorging oneself on soda. I buy a LOT of the fun stuff. Glass bottles and all. I also indulge in all the sparkling what-nots I can get my hands on. This year is was white-grape, red-grape and blueberry grape. :) I'm a glutton for carbonation.
