So You Think You're Crafty: Week One

Today the crafts for week one at So You Think You're Crafty go up and I'm in there somewhere.

Sadly I can't tell you which one is mine. A lot of you have been giving me grief about this. "Come on, no one will know. It's just me." Sorry, rules are rules and I'm the one in the card game that closes my eyes and announces when I can see your hand.

My profile is up, though, and I love a good profile. I don't know if you guys have ever noticed this about me, but I'm terribly picky about how I write a bio. It's so common for a persons bio to say "I'm a mom of _____. I married my best friend. We live in _____." Etc, etc, etc.

So I do my darndest to not have any generic bio's of myself. So You Think You're Crafty was a little trickier because the readers are probably looking for something fairly specific. I tried to add a little Cannwin personality into it though. Tell me what you think!

As for everything else in my life... Remewin was sick all weekend. On Friday night I had approximately 2 hours of sleep. On Saturday she and I stayed in bed almost all day (because she didn't want to get out). Saturday night I went to bed tired and with a headache. Sunday morning I woke up to an axe sticking out of my forehead--okay that's really just metaphorical, but it felt like it and I felt as if my best plan of attack was to take some medicine and crawl back in bed.

At 9AM Ralexwin got home from his meetings. I remember him walking in the door, then I remember the kids walking in the door... at 1:30PM.

My darling husband sent the Irish Twins to church with a friend and watched the little ones while I slept myself into oblivion.

Remewin and I are feeling much better today, although not exactly up to snuff. Perhaps tomorrow.

Anyway, I don't think the crafts will be up until around 8:30AM MST today, but make sure you vote. Then come back and tell me so I can yell at you later. :)

Thank goodness the topic of ruffles came up the other day and HOW MUCH YOU HATE THEM! lol Otherwise, I think I would have voted for the ruffled Anthropologie knock off since I know you LOVE Anthropologie.

So, let's hope I'm a better guesser this time.

This was my week two craft for So You Think You're Crafty. I placed third that week for this one. I thought you might enjoy finding out how I made it. I tried about a million different decorations before settling on one that didn't drown out my rings. I wanted them to the focal point. This is also why I went with black fabric and not something more vivid. Don't be intimidated by the lack of 101 I'm giving you. It really is a straight forward sort of project. If you know how to use a glue gun without burning yourself you can do this. Just be sure to dust off your imaginative brain space first. :) The one important thing you might be wondering is how I got the pink fabric to stick to the shoe. I really just Mod Podged it on. There are several different ways to make ring tubes that you can find online. One I saw used that colored foam paper stuff that you find in the kids craft section. Use your words, my dear sweet soul, they are inside of you... So find them. Write, you silly girl, write so hard the world will never forget you. But does it matter if the world remembers you?  Age begins to press its hands upon your chest and the need to be remembered seems to increase with the pressure.  Stop. That's not a line of thought you're interested in pursuing.  Live in the now.
