Harder and Harder to Breathe

Good Morning my fine feathered friends. Today was supposed to be another blog swap with Evelyn but both of us are currently suffering from 'sick child-itis' and decided to postpone the swap. This is slightly ironic since the blog swap topic for today is/was/will be 'Semi-Single White Female.'

Yes... that's the life that me and Evelyn share together. Companions in abstinence.

Ooh, did I just say that!? Sorry.

I'm in a surprisingly chipper mood today, even considering the vomitting state of my youngest. And considering that I had the oddest thing happen to me last night.

At 1 AM I woke up gasping for breath... as if I had had the air completely knocked out of me or that I'd been suffocating. It took me several seconds to even wake up enough to not panic and just breathe and then my throat and lungs hurt bad for a good hour after.

So... anyone want to diagnose me? I can honestly say I've never had that happen before. It was very frightening.

What's the most frightening thing your body has ever done to you?

I've heard of sleep apnea but that's multiple times waking up. Maybe stress?

Was it kind of like the croup? Cole gets that at least one time every winter. I use to take him outside to get him breathing well again then our dear s-i-law. gave me some peppermint oil. I rub that on his shirt and he is an easy breather instantly! It really is miraculous.
I use to get it all the time when I was little too. Mom would put a cold wash cloth on my chest. I remember hating it because it was so cold but so glad because it enabled me to breath again.

what about sleep apnea?Maybe you had a dose of that.

Certainly doesn't sound like sleep apnea. I have that, and it's quite a different experience.
I would suggest it's something stressful. Perhaps a bad dream. Or worry about your son.
About the lung bit. Perhaps you need a breath of fresh air. Though that might mean a 15-hour car ride. Nudge, nudge. . . .
Well, perhaps not.

Did you fly to Utah? If not was it a long drive? Sometimes people can develop clots in their legs that can move to their lungs (pulmonary embolism) or the brain (stroke) or the heart. If it goes to the lungs it can cause severe shortness of breath, chest pain, and depending on the size can be deadly. Do your legs ache, or do you have a red spot that is hot to the touch and painful? Sleep Apnea is another possibility. It is were your body stops breathing at night and then you gasp for breath. Do you have a history of snoring? If so definately get that checked.
Sometimes anxiety can cause it but I haven't heard of it being painful after.
Hope that helps!
