Responsibility, ADHD and Flight Jackets.

Unbelievable as it may seem I completely spaced blogging yesterday!
After the trip to Vegas I came home and crashed (head cold being a major factor in that) then when I woke up yesterday morning all I wanted in the world was to ignore my responsibilities and just enjoy the day.

So evidently, at some point in the last 4 years, blogging has become a 'responsibility' in my mind and therefore was subconsciously shrugged off with the other things I should have been doing.

Like laundry.

Ironically, later that evening I had to watch my friends kids and spent an hour flying around my tiny living space cleaning madly lest her husband (who was picking up the kids) see it messy. Now that I think about it, that doesn't seem very fair to her....

How would you like it if all your friends took the time to make their houses super clean whenever your spouse came over? It would definitely not give a good impression of your house. I suppose it's good that he's picked up the kids before and has seen dirty diapers rolling around on the ground.

Us women have to stick together you know.

As for the doctor. I sadly have to return again in 3 weeks.
I know you're all dying to know what the appointment was all about.
I'll tell you.

Albowin has been diagnosed with ADHD and we were going down to see the closest child psychiatrist to where we are for a second (actually third) opinion.

The opinion was the same.

In fact the child psych said, "To be diagnosed with ADHD a child has to show one of three things, just one of them will qualify him... your son has all three."

Ah, yes. That's my darling boy... can't do anything half way.

Luckily for us this psychiatrist is pretty hesitant about medicating children. So he is putting Albowin onto the lowest possible medication he can find (2mg a day). He also sent us home with a bunch of information on alternative therapies.

This will be our second go round with meds. The first one left a very large hole in my pocket and a very large ball of fury in my head. (Which is why we actually searched out the child psych)

I think I will start him on the medication this weekend so I can really watch what happens.

Lets cross our fingers that it's not as insane as the last stuff. The doctor assured me it was the polar opposite of what Albowin had been given last time (this is a non stimulant instead of a stimulant).

I have hesitated to mention Albowin's new diagnosis on here because I don't want to make his struggles a focal point of my blog. He deserves to have his privacy, even if he does not understand that.

That being said, I think that since I've already told you about 100 other crazy things he and his siblings get into that maybe ADHD isn't that much further to go.

We were really worried the psych would tell us he had Aspergers, which is a form of Autism, so ADHD is a  real relief to Ralexwin and me both.

Anyway, so that's what the trip was for.

And... if you really wanted to know. I was toying with the idea of going to the Air Force Base when a formation of fighter jets flew over my head. Yep... that's about all the convincing I needed. I can't get enough  of those beasts. So we went and bought Albowin a kid sized flight jacket.

Now I get to kiss a mini Tom Cruise every morning when he leaves for school.

:)

You look so pretty in that picture! Not only a Tom Cruise but a pre scientology Tom Cruise, the only good kind ha ha ha. My S.I.L.'s B.I.L. has aspergers. That was the first time I had ever heard of it.
