Nekked

I think it would be safe to say that my children see me in the buff as often as I do.

In the shower: "Mooom! I have to go to the bathroom!"

Changing clothes: "Mooom! I can't find any socks."

In the lavatory: "Moooom! Why did you close always the door?!"

I can't remember the last time I had a private moment to myself. Even on Tuesday nights, when Ralexwin has late classes.

I'll get really excited about having two whole hours of nothing but me.

No one to tend to, no one to worry about making happy, no socks to find, no bathroom to share.

I could take the most luxurious bath in human history (in a standard size, frequently used by children, sort of tub) and not be bothered by anyone!

Except... it never works that way.

Nope. Vicbowin has to take f-o-o-o-o-r-e-e-e-v-e-e-e-r putting on her pajamas. Then she remembers things like 'I need to take a shower, Mom' or 'Oh, I didn't do my homework, Mom.'

The Mischievite always has to give me a kiss and hug... and then another kiss and hug... and then 'Mom, will you pwease sing me a song?'

Then Albowin will sneak into Vicbowin's bedroom and they'll giggle and play until they wake up Remewin who will begin to cry and soon enough it's 9PM and Ralexwin's walking in the door and there goes my two hours.

Whew!

So I saw this reading nook picture the other day:

I want one.

I want one with a very large, very secure, very coded lock on it.

I would call it the 'Mommy Safe' and it would be sound proof.

Except that I couldn't have a sound-proof 'Mommy Safe' because I would never feel comfortable hiding so thoroughly from my children that I wouldn't know if they were safe.

And therein lies the problem.

rock-me-hardplace

Do I continue being the families life size anatomy model? Should I just keep trying to get the kids to bed before my husband walks through the door?

Hey, maybe I should just invest in headphones.

I gotta get me a nook like that... except like you said without the sound proofing. OR sound-proof with an extremely responsible, reliable baby sitter. YES! That is the answer.

I'm going through that tonight. Hubby is at scouts. Most nights, kids are asleep by 8. And I get at least an hour by myself. Here it is 8:45 and both big kids are still fighting in the other room, baby won't sleep anywhere but my arms. And all I want are a nice bath or a nice few minutes to work out. Please?
